International Peace Maternity and Child Health Hospital of China Welfare Institute The International Peace Maternity and Child Health Hospital of China Welfare Institute was personally founded in 1952 by Soong Ching Ling, one of the founders of New China, Honorary President of the State, and founder of the China Welfare Institute. It is a Grade 3A tertiary specialized obstetrics and gynecology hospital and maternal and child health hospital integrating medical care, healthcare, teaching, and scientific research. It is an affiliated hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and a national Baby-Friendly Hospital. The hospital follows the guiding principle of "experimental, demonstrative, and strengthening scientific research," and has always adhered to the mission of "serving women and children wholeheartedly." It has been awarded the National "May 1st" Labor Certificate and the Advanced Collective in Culture, Education, and Health, the 7th National Civilized Unit, the Shanghai "May 1st" Labor Certificate, the Model Worker Collective, and the Shanghai "Civilized Unit." In September 2022, on the occasion of the hospital's 70th anniversary, the Fengxian Campus opened and began operation. The two campuses have a total of 980 approved beds, including 480 beds at the Xuhui Campus and 500 beds at the Fengxian Campus. There are currently more than 1,300 staff members, including nearly 200 experts at the associate senior level or above. The annual outpatient volume is 1.3 million visits, the annual number of discharged patients is 50,000, and the annual surgical volume is 31,000 cases. It is a Shanghai Standardized Training Base for Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Anesthesiology, Neonatology, and Clinical Pathology. It is a National Drug Clinical Trial Institution; it has been approved as a National Maternal and Child Traditional Chinese Medicine Characteristic Construction Unit, a National Health Commission Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine "Flagship" Department (Gynecology) Construction Project, and one of the first batch of national characteristic construction units for integrated maternal-fetal medicine management of fetal heart disease. It is a Shanghai Clinical Key Specialty, the affiliated unit of the Shanghai Birth Defects Prevention and Healthcare Center, and the Shanghai Prenatal Diagnosis Technology Quality Control Center. Our hospital's obstetrics and gynecology department was selected for the Shanghai Clinical Key Specialty Construction Project, and the endometrial malignant tumor disease category was selected for the National Major Difficult and Complicated Diseases Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Clinical Collaboration Project List. In 2023, it was selected as one of Shanghai's first batch of high-level public hospital international medical tourism pilot units. In 2025, it received 2 national-level maternal MDT construction units, 6 national-level obstetric subspecialty construction units, and 4 national-level women's health characteristic outpatient construction units.
