Vice Director of the Institute of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine; Deputy Director of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science Liu Lin, MD, PhD, Professor, Chief Physician, Doctoral Supervisor, Vice Director of the Institute of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Deputy Director of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science. From 1999 to 2024, he served successively as Director of the Department of Ophthalmology and Director of the Teaching and Research Section at Changhai Hospital, Shanghai East Hospital, and Renji Hospital. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cataracts, fundus diseases, myopia, uveitis, and ocular trauma. He is frequently invited to provide consultations and perform surgeries at other hospitals. He has personally performed tens of thousands of minimally invasive cataract surgeries (including various complex cataracts and implantation of various special-function intraocular lenses), and thousands of minimally invasive vitreoretinal surgeries (including retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, ocular trauma, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, vitreous hemorrhage, etc.) and combined multi-procedure surgeries for anterior-posterior segment complex eye diseases. In the early 1990s, he was among the earliest in China to carry out refractive error correction surgeries such as myopia surgery; in 1995, he served as Editor-in-Chief and published the monograph *Modern Ophthalmic Refractive Surgery*. He has published more than 200 papers domestically and internationally (including more than 40 indexed in SCI), participated in the compilation of more than 10 guidelines and consensus statements, and published more than 10 academic works (including 3 as Editor-in-Chief and 4 as Deputy Editor-in-Chief). He has undertaken more than 10 research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, and various other funding sources (as Principal Investigator). He has received multiple awards, including the First Prize for Outstanding Multimedia Achievements from the Ministry of Health, the First Prize for Multimedia Educational Software from the Shanghai Association for Educational Technology, the Military Science and Technology Progress Award, the Military Medical Achievement Award, monograph awards, and the Chinese Ophthalmological Society Award. He has served as Principal Investigator (PI) for multiple drug clinical trials. He has organized national continuing education program training courses for many consecutive years (as Project Leader). He has been rated as an Outstanding Base Director for many consecutive years. He is an Advanced Individual in Assisting the Disabled in Shanghai, an "Outstanding Ophthalmologist" of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and a trainee of the "Hundred Talents Program" as an Outstanding Discipline Leader in the Shanghai Health System. He serves as a review expert for the Science Explorer Award, National Science and Technology Award, Chinese Medical Science Award, Huaxia Medical Science Award, Shanghai Science and Technology Achievement Award, Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Award, and other awards, as well as for national major talent programs and research projects and talent programs of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, and Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission. He is also a review expert for the National Essential Medicines List, national medical consumables procurement, and Shanghai municipal government procurement.
