He was among the earlier practitioners in China to carry out catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, and among the earlier to propose "individualized" substrate modification for chronic atrial fibrillation. He was the first in China to propose the predilection sites and electrophysiological characteristics of frequent premature atrial contractions and short-run atrial tachycardia. He was among the earlier in China to propose the substrate distribution characteristics of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and their impact on ablation efficacy, in order to better screen suitable populations and predict ablation outcomes. He proposed that achieving linear block in patients with recurrence after first ablation for chronic atrial fibrillation can improve success rates, proposed the "sequential" mapping and ablation technique for His bundle-adjacent premature ventricular contractions/ventricular tachycardia, and was the first to report the clinical efficacy of this technique in a relatively large case series. He proposed that the technical details of Marshall vein ethanol ablation affect the success rate of linear block and ablation efficacy. He has cumulatively completed over 7,000 atrial fibrillation ablation procedures, with the total number of tachyarrhythmia ablations exceeding 10,000 cases. He specializes in catheter ablation for complex tachyarrhythmias such as supraventricular tachycardia, premature ventricular contractions/ventricular tachycardia, and atrial tachycardia/atrial flutter. He has undertaken and completed 1 project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and 2 provincial/ministerial-level research projects. He served as editor-in-chief of 1 electrophysiology monograph, and as co-editor of 3 monographs on atrial fibrillation ablation. He has published 25 SCI papers as first author/corresponding author.
