Director of the Department of Nephrology, Renji Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Chief Physician, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor. Specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic glomerular diseases and renal insufficiency. Has long been engaged in clinical practice and research on the pathogenesis, prevention and treatment, and management of complications of chronic kidney disease, including end-stage renal disease. Basic research focuses on the glomerular protein filtration barrier, the biology of podocytes and parietal epithelial cells, and their roles in the development and progression of glomerular diseases. Conducted advanced studies in the Department of Nephrology at Juntendo University in Japan in 2003 and at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in the United States in 2011, and obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree from Juntendo University in 2007. As project leader, has undertaken 4 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 capacity-building project of the National Health Commission, and 3 provincial and ministerial-level research projects. Has published 43 papers as first author or corresponding author, including 15 SCI papers. Has received 4 provincial and ministerial-level awards, the Young Physician Award of the Shanghai Medical Association, and the Young Physician Award of the Nephrology Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association.
