Chief Physician Bao Chunde has been engaged in clinical work in the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology for 40 years. In the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune diseases represented by rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus, especially in the diagnosis and treatment of severe lupus, refractory rheumatoid arthritis, amyopathic dermatomyositis with severe interstitial pneumonia, and ANCA-associated vasculitis, he has accumulated rich clinical experience and conducted innovative research, achieving certain results. He has published more than 60 SCI-indexed papers (first/corresponding author), with research results published in journals such as 《Arthritis & Rheumatism》, 《Annals of Rheumatic Disease》, and 《Chest》. He has received awards including the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the First Prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, and the Ministry of Health Science and Technology Progress Award. He has undertaken multiple projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Municipal Science and Technology Commission, and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission Key Discipline Construction Fund, and has served as editor-in-chief of 3 monographs.
Professor Bao Chunde has accumulated rich clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of severe lupus, refractory rheumatoid arthritis, amyopathic dermatomyositis with severe interstitial pneumonia, and ANCA-associated vasculitis, and has a strong ability to solve difficult and severe rheumatic diseases. He has conducted innovative research in clinical studies of systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, and other conditions, especially achieving encouraging results in individualized treatment of lupus nephritis based on renal pathological classification and novel drug treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, greatly improving the prognosis of lupus nephritis and patients' quality of life. The incidence of renal insufficiency has been greatly reduced, with the 10-year incidence of end-stage renal disease reduced to 2.17%, far lower than the 25% incidence of renal failure reported in Europe. The research results of leflunomide in the treatment of lupus nephritis have been written into international guidelines for the treatment of lupus nephritis. He was the first internationally to report the research results of iguratimod in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, which were also written into the Asia-Pacific guidelines for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Based on long-term research on a cohort of amyopathic dermatomyositis with interstitial pneumonia, he summarized the FLAIR criteria for the progression of amyopathic dermatomyositis with interstitial pneumonia to rapidly progressive interstitial pneumonia, which has been widely applied by peers at home and abroad and has significantly improved the prognosis of this disease.
