Graduated from Peking University Health Science Center in 2001 with a Doctor of Medicine degree in Ophthalmology. In the same year, he joined the Department of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Peking University First Hospital, where he served as department director from 2019 to 2025. In December 2025, he was transferred to Peking University Third Hospital. Professor Zhu holds extensive academic appointments, currently serving as a member of the Children's Eye Health Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, a member of the Expert Group of the Children's Eye Health Branch of the Chinese Maternal and Child Health Association, and a member of the National Ocular Tumor Collaboration Group of the Ophthalmology Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine, among other national-level professional academic society positions. In clinical practice, Professor Zhu demonstrates exceptional surgical skill and extensive experience, with particular expertise in the surgical correction of various complex strabismus conditions (such as challenging, recurrent, and overcorrected strabismus) as well as refractory ocular myopathies including restrictive thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy. He also holds unique insights and extensive experience in the precise prevention and control of childhood myopia. To date, Professor Zhu's annual outpatient volume exceeds 7,000 visits, and he has performed over 10,000 strabismus surgeries cumulatively, with his surgical volume and technical proficiency ranking among the top nationally. Professor Zhu is equally dedicated to scientific research innovation and public health education. In recent years, he has published nearly 10 SCI-indexed papers and contributed to 5 professional textbooks. He actively participates in public welfare initiatives, having repeatedly taken part in the Ministry of Civil Affairs' "Tomorrow Plan" screening program for complex pediatric eye diseases. Additionally, as a widely popular science communicator, he has been invited to deliver ophthalmology lectures on mainstream media platforms including CCTV, Xinhua Net, and China National Radio. His personal new media platforms have published over 1,400 educational videos and garnered more than 120,000 followers, making significant contributions to raising public awareness of eye care and vision protection.
