The first clinical Doctor of Medicine in Major Vessel and Aortic Surgery jointly trained by Fudan University and the University of Wisconsin‑Madison in China. During his study in the United States, he presided over and participated in three NIH R01 research projects on abdominal aortic aneurysm and atherosclerosis. After returning to China, he innovated and carried out multiple new minimally‑invasive therapeutic techniques for major vascular diseases. He took part in one National 12th Five‑Year Science and Technology Support Program project and one National 863 Program project focusing on aortic dissection and aortic aneurysm, and presided over two General Programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published more than 30 papers in Chinese and English, among which 22 are indexed by English SCI. He is the chief editor of *Handbook of Endovascular Therapy in Cardiac and Vascular Surgery*, which won the Second Prize for Excellent Books from East China Publishers at the 30th edition.
