Shen Yaxing holds a Doctor of Surgery degree from Fudan University and completed his postdoctoral training at Peking Union Medical College. He studied under Academician He Jie at the National Cancer Center/Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and is an Evarts A. Graham Fellow of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery. Since commencing his career in thoracic surgery, as the first author, he has achieved full publication coverage in the three top‑tier thoracic surgery journals: *Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery* (JTCVS), *Annals of Thoracic Surgery* (ATS), and *European Journal of Cardio‑thoracic Surgery* (EJCTS). He has also delivered oral presentations at all four world‑renowned major thoracic surgery conferences: the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS), the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), and the European Association for Cardio‑Thoracic Surgery (EACTS).

He presides over one National Natural Science Foundation for Young Scientists (Surgical Anatomical Study of Transcervical Single‑Port Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy, Grant No.: 81400681) and one General Program of the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation (Grant No.: 2018M631394). He proposed the innovative surgical procedure of “transcervical combined endoscopic‑thoracoscopic minimally invasive esophagectomy”, which was published in the top surgical journal *Annals of Surgery*. He received the Evarts A. Graham Fellowship Award (2015), the highest global honor for young cardiothoracic surgeons. In 2016, he was awarded the Second‑Class Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award (third completer). His other honors include: Top‑Ten Medical Worker of Fudan University (2018); Top‑Ten Young Medical Professional of Fudan University (2019); Advanced Individual for Anti‑Epidemic Work as a Member of the Hubei‑Assisting Medical Team from Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University (2020); Nominee for the May Fourth Youth Medal of Fudan University (2021); Outstanding Contribution Award of the 3rd Jinshan Camellia‑People’s Good Doctor Award (2023).
