In 2007, he studied at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in the United States under the tutelage of renowned thoracic surgeon Professor Douglas J. Mathisen, and has attained profound expertise in surgical management of tracheal diseases. He obtained the qualification of Console Surgeon for the da Vinci Surgical System in 2009. In 2010, he performed China’s first complete da Vinci robotic esophagectomy and took the lead domestically in completing da Vinci‑assisted total thymectomy. In 2015, as the principal thoracic surgeon, he participated in the world’s first complete da Vinci‑robotic simultaneous resection of liver, intestine and lung for a patient with metastatic colorectal cancer to the liver and lungs. In 2021, he completed Fujian Province’s first combined laparoscopic‑gastroscopic radical esophagectomy with cervical gastroesophageal anastomosis.

Academic Achievements:

He has long been engaged in basic and clinical research in thoracic surgery. His research interests cover tumor immune microenvironment and sensitivity to immunotherapy, as well as interdisciplinary medical‑engineering integration of optics and materials science. He has presided over a total of 8 research projects, including open projects of national and ministerial key laboratories, Shanghai Natural Science Foundation, research projects of Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau, and guiding projects of Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology, with a total research fund of 10.98 million RMB. As first author or corresponding author, he has published 39 papers in total, among which 19 are SCI‑indexed papers, including 3 Q1‑zone / Category‑A / authoritative SCI papers such as those published in the Journal of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery, with an aggregate impact factor of 111.7. He has participated in compiling multiple surgical monographs including *Practical Surgery* and *Great Chinese Encyclopaedia*.

He has long undertaken teaching for postgraduate and undergraduate students. His supervised postgraduate students have received honors such as Outstanding Graduates of Shanghai and Outstanding Residents of Fudan University. He delivers theoretical lectures and clinical demonstrations for clinical medicine programs at Fudan University, and provides clinical mentoring for Shanghai standardized residency training and thoracic surgery specialist training.
