Professor, Chief Physician, Doctoral Supervisor, Deputy Director of the Department of Thoracic Surgery and Director of the Lung Cancer Center, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University.
Specialties: He has extensive clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of thoracic tumors, with outstanding expertise particularly in the differential diagnosis of small pulmonary nodules and the management of locally advanced lung cancer, performing more than 1,000 surgical procedures annually. He is proficient in minimally‑invasive surgery and conventional thoracotomy for pulmonary, esophageal and mediastinal tumors, and specializes in highly‑complex operations including carinal surgery, pulmonary sleeve resection, esophagectomy with colon interposition, completion pneumonectomy, and radical esophagectomy for esophageal cancer following remnant gastrectomy. He is in charge of the Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) at Zhongshan Hospital. He attaches great importance to standardized surgical treatment for thoracic tumors. While prioritizing surgical efficacy, he focuses on the prevention of surgical complications, and has long been engaged in the treatment of bronchopleural fistula (BPF) after pulmonary surgery under the multidisciplinary consultation model. He pioneered sclerosing agent injection via flexible bronchoscopy for BPF treatment and invented the bronchoscopic "sandwich" technique for BPF, achieving a 70 % clinical response rate, which spares patients the pain and risks of re‑operation for postoperative complications.
Academic Achievements: He has long been engaged in clinical and basic research on lung cancer and esophageal cancer. As the principal investigator, he has led three national‑level research projects:
1. Study on the regulatory effect of calpain Capn4 on C5a/C5aR complement‑system‑mediated invasion and metastasis of non‑small‑cell lung cancer (General Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China);
2. Study on the regulation of demethylase TET3‑induced esophageal cancer stem cells by Linc‑MD1 (General Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China);
3. Mechanism by which tumor‑derived exosomal tsRNA 3′tiRNA‑AlaCGC targets fibroblasts to induce their senescence and GAL‑9 secretion‑mediated immune tolerance in lung adenocarcinoma (General Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China).
He has also presided over four projects supported by the Natural Science Foundation of Shanghai. He has published more than 40 SCI‑indexed papers as the first author or corresponding author. He has participated in compiling monographs including *Diseases of the Pleura*, *Practical Surgery*, *Modern Surgery* and *Clinical Surgery*, and served as the chief translator for *Atlas of Anatomic Segmentectomy for Lung Cancer*. He has received multiple provincial‑ministerial‑level awards such as the Second‑Class Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Award.
