He specializes in the surgical diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies, with expertise in surgical management of gastric tumors, particularly surgical treatment, minimally‑invasive therapy and comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for gastric cancer.

He serves as Vice President, Director of the Department of General Surgery, Director of the Gastric Cancer Center and Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Medicine Center. He has presided over the National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, National Natural Science Foundation of China, major projects of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, major research projects of Shanghai Shenkang Hospital Development Center and other programs. He has published more than 100 papers, and was awarded the Third‑class Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award and the First‑class Prize of Fudan University Teaching Achievement Award.
