Chief Physician and Professor of the Department of Endocrinology, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, and academic leader.He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Hengyang Medical College in 1983, his Master’s degree from the Third Military Medical University in 1987, and his Doctoral degree from Shanghai Second Medical University in 1996. From 1998 to 2003, he carried out post‑doctoral research successively at Baylor College of Medicine in the United States, McGill University and UBC University in Canada. He has undertaken more than 10 research projects including key special programs of the Ministry of Science and Technology, major research programs, key projects and key international cooperation projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. As the corresponding author, he has published over 60 papers in journals such as JAMA, BMJ, Nature Medicine, Cell Metabolism, JAMA Internal Medicine, PNAS, JCI, Gut, Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Journal of Hepatology, Diabetes, Diabetes Care and JCEM. He has authored 7 monographs. His awards include the First Prize of Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Award, the Second Prize of Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award from the Chinese Diabetes Society, and the Yutaka Seino Distinguished Leadership Award from the Asian Association for the Study of Diabetes (AASD). His main research focuses on the pathogenesis and clinical intervention of metabolic diseases.
