Director of the Department of Orthopedics and Director of the Comprehensive Diagnosis and Treatment Center for Spinal Tumors at Zhongshan Hospital, and Director of the Fudan University Institute of Medical Popular Science.He holds an internationally leading position in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal tumors, and specializes in degenerative disorders including cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc herniation, spinal fractures, osteoporosis and lumbar spinal stenosis.He has presided over 37 research grants in total, including the National "863 Program" and 8 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published 129 SCI papers as the first author and corresponding author, and obtained 14 patents. He has supervised 46 doctoral students. He is a Young‑and‑Middle‑Aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions awarded by the former National Health and Family Planning Commission, and has received honors such as the "Chinese Good Doctor" title from the National Health Commission, the "National Distinguished Physician Award" from the Chinese Medical Association, the Shanghai Medical Outstanding Contribution Award, Shanghai Science and Technology Elite, and Shanghai Leading Talent. As the first completer, he has won more than ten awards including the Second‑Class National Award for Scientific and Technological Progress and the First‑Class Shanghai Municipal Award for Scientific and Technological Progress.
