MD, Professor of Surgery and Doctoral Supervisor. He currently serves as Deputy Director of the Department of Hepatobiliary Tumor and Liver Transplant Surgery, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University. After graduating from the former Shanghai Medical University in 1991, he has been working in the Liver Surgery Department of Zhongshan Hospital for more than 30 years.
He has presided over and participated in a large number of clinical diagnoses and treatments for patients with liver tumors, as well as the treatment and rescue of many critically ill patients with complex conditions. He possesses solid surgical skills in liver surgery and extensive clinical experience. He has performed over 6,000 various liver tumor operations in total, including technically demanding hepatectomies such as right/left hepatectomy, extended right/left hepatectomy, hilar liver cancer resection and caudate lobectomy, saving numerous patients' lives.
In terms of scientific research, his main research focuses on the early prediction of metastasis and recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma, as well as the screening and functional study of key molecules. During his advanced training and collaborative research at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in the United States, under the careful guidance of his mentor Academician Tang Zhaoyou and Investigator Wang Xinwei from the National Cancer Institute, he devoted himself to research and achieved important innovative findings in the field of liver cancer metastasis research. He first proposed internationally a novel viewpoint that the genetic alterations driving liver cancer metastasis may occur at the primary tumor stage, overturning the traditional concept that genetic changes for liver cancer metastasis take place after metastasis occurs. This laid a theoretical foundation for timely prediction, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of liver cancer metastasis at the primary tumor stage. He first established a multi-molecular prediction model for liver cancer metastasis using gene phenotypes associated with liver cancer metastasis, which can predict high metastatic potential at the primary tumor stage. He identified osteopontin (OPN) and Golgi membrane protein 1 (GOLM1), genes that play vital roles in the progression of liver cancer metastasis. Relevant academic papers were published in top international journals *Nature Medicine* and *Cancer Cell*. He has presided over multiple national research projects, including the tumor project of the National Key Basic Research Program of China (973 Program) (2009CB521701), sub-project of the National Major Science and Technology Project (2012ZX10002012-003), Key Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (30430720), and General Program projects (30371378, 81071993, 8152301, 81871924, 82072666). He has published more than 80 papers in total, among which 60 are SCI-indexed, covering renowned international journals such as Nat Med, Cancer Cell, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, J Hepatology and Cancer Res.
