He is currently Director, Chief Physician, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University. He is also a Shanghai Oriental Scholar, Distinguished Professor of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Outstanding Academic Leader of Shanghai, and Leading Talent of Shanghai. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchiectasis and pulmonary infection, as well as the management of acute and chronic respiratory failure.He has presided over more than 20 research grants including Key Projects and General Programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Key Research and Development Programs and Major Special Projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Major‑Key Projects of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission. He has published over 260 SCI papers, which have been cited more than 28,000 times with an H‑index of 61. He holds more than 20 authorized patents, among which 5 have been transformed for practical application. His honors include the Second‑Class Award of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, Second‑Class Award of Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Award, Third‑Class Award of Chinese Medical Award, Second‑Class Award of Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award, and the Woolock Research Award from the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology. He has participated in compiling the Respiratory Volume of Internal Medicine, five‑year‑program Internal Medicine, Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, and Practical Internal Medicine. As one of the chief editors, he has authored monographs such as Modern Respiratory Medicine and Bronchiectasis.
