II. Research Directions
1. Basic Research: Neuroinflammatory mechanisms of olfactory dysfunction in allergic rhinitis and chronic rhinosinusitis.
2. Clinical Research:
2.1 Efficacy observation, predictive factor analysis, and evaluation of surgical and novel biomaterial interventions for olfactory dysfunction in chronic rhinosinusitis.
2.2 Endoscopic complex sinus surgery: contouring surgery for refractory rhinosinusitis, Draf type III frontal sinusotomy, application of nasal mucosal flaps, surgical management of maxillary sinus and pterygopalatine fossa lesions via the prelacrimal recess approach, choanal atresia plasty, and surgical techniques for juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA).
2.3 Endoscopic treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses: endoscopic surgical management of selected benign and malignant tumors involving the nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, and anterior, middle, and lateral skull base.
2.4 Rhinogenic and ophthalmic-related diseases: efficacy of endoscopic transnasal resection of orbital apex tumors, decompression of the annulus of Zinn region for thyroid-associated optic neuropathy and traumatic optic neuropathy, and endoscopic endonasal lacrimal surgery.
2.5 Endoscopic surgery of the craniovertebral junction: preliminary exploration of endoscopic-assisted surgical treatment of atlantoaxial malformations.
