Chief Physician, Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor. He currently serves as Vice‑President of Peking University Cancer Hospital, Deputy Director of the Department of Lymphoma Internal Medicine, and Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education. He is a recipient of the Special Government Allowance from the State Council and was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. His professional focus lies in the clinical diagnosis, treatment and translational research of lymphoma.
He boasts extensive clinical experience in lymphoma management. For rare and refractory lymphoma cases, he excels at developing individualized treatment regimens by integrating multiple modalities including targeted therapy, cellular immunotherapy and autologous hematopoietic stem‑cell transplantation. Together with his team, he has established a system for clinical trial design of novel lymphoma agents and basic translational research, achieving remarkable outcomes in improving survival rates and quality of life for lymphoma patients. He has led or participated in more than 300 domestic and international registered clinical trials, accounting for over 75% of China’s new‑drug research and development for lymphoma, among which over 80% are projects under his leadership, providing access to innovative clinical trial therapies for patients with relapsed or refractory lymphoma.
His team has facilitated the successful marketing of 31 new anti‑lymphoma drugs or new indications, including China’s first domestically‑developed innovative BTK inhibitor approved in the United States, the first‑line indications for four domestic PD‑1 monoclonal antibodies, CAR‑T cell therapies (with two patents for self‑developed CAR‑T products), and China’s first ADC drug.
Basic and translational research: His research centers on lymphoma, covering pathogenesis, mechanisms of resistance to targeted drugs, exploration of novel immunotherapeutic targets, as well as the construction and application of lymphoma organoids.
He has accumulated abundant academic achievements. His honors include the Second‑Class Award of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Progress Award. He has presided over numerous national, municipal and provincial research projects, such as five National Natural Science Foundation projects, one project for the four major chronic diseases, one sub‑project of the Ministry of Science and Technology Major Project, and one key project of the Beijing Natural Science Foundation. He has published more than 100 papers in top‑tier international oncology and hematology journals including Lancet Haematology, Annals of Oncology and Blood. For years, he has led the compilation and annual updates of the CSCO Lymphoma Guidelines, translated three academic monographs as chief translator, and formulated two standards related to datasets.
