In early 2007, he led the team from Peking University Cancer Hospital to perform the world‑first hepatic artery catheter‑retained chemotherapy for colorectal cancer liver metastasis. Over more than ten years of research, he has established a distinctive theory of "low‑dose, short‑interval target‑intravascular regional chemotherapy" for hepatic metastatic carcinoma and is the originator of this technique. Boasting remarkable therapeutic efficacy, the technique has been widely recognized by domestic academic circles and is expected to become the standard procedure for unresectable hepatic metastases. It has been extensively applied in liver cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, pancreatic cancer and other tumors. He was awarded the Second Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Anti‑Cancer Association in 2019 (K‑1902‑2‑10, the fourth completer). In 2012, as the principal investigator, he undertook a sub‑project of the National 12th Five‑Year Major Project — Clinical Research on Licartin Combined with TACE against Liver Cancer Recurrence, with a research grant of 2.5 million RMB. The study demonstrated that Licartin can reduce the recurrence of primary liver cancer, lowering the one‑year recurrence rate by 24.1% and the two‑year recurrence rate by 19.7%. It delivers favorable effects in preventing liver cancer recurrence and reaches internationally advanced levels.
