He worked as a visiting scholar in surgery at the School of Medicine, University of Wales and St Mary's Hospital Medical School in London successively. From September 2001 to December 2005, he pursued his Doctor of Medicine degree in Surgery at the School of Medicine, Cardiff University, UK, and obtained the Doctorate in Clinical Medicine of the United Kingdom in February 2006. He also studied at China‑Europe International Business School in Shanghai, China, and obtained a diploma in medical management. With more than 30 years of clinical practice, he has accumulated rich clinical experience. He has profound attainments in the comprehensive treatment of lung cancer, esophageal cancer and mediastinal tumors mainly through surgical operations. He enjoys a certain reputation in the field of thoracic oncology surgery in China and is a well‑known expert in thoracic surgery. He is currently in charge of national satellite‑based continuing medical education programs and research projects such as tumor angiogenesis funded by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission. He has been granted research invention patents. He maintains close cooperation and academic exchanges with the renowned Department of Surgical Oncology at Cardiff University in the United Kingdom, jointly tackling numerous difficult problems in clinical research. He has participated in the comprehensive treatment of lung cancer under the National Key Technology R&D Program of the 11th Five‑Year Plan of China and the research on the surgical physician grading system funded by the Beijing Municipal Health System Research Fund.
