Specialties: surgery‑centered comprehensive treatment for esophageal cancer, lung cancer and mediastinal tumors. The narrow‑tube gastric esophageal reconstruction technique he promoted has reduced the risks of esophageal surgery and improved patients’ postoperative quality of life. He has made contributions to advocating full‑course enteral nutrition and preoperative systemic therapy for esophageal cancer. He also contributed to major international clinical trials that transformed the treatment strategies for locally advanced non‑small‑cell lung cancer. He has presided over numerous research projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National High‑tech Research and Development Program (863 Program), the National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), Beijing Natural Science Foundation, and Capital Medical Development Research Fund. As the first author or corresponding author, he has published nearly 200 papers in SCI‑indexed journals and core journals.
