First-Class Chief Physician, Second-Class Professor, Distinguished Physician of Sun Yat-sen University, Distinguished Physician of Yangcheng, Academic Leader and Chief Expert of Cardiac Surgery, Doctoral Supervisor. He pursued postdoctoral research and work in cardiothoracic surgery at the New England Medical Center of Tufts University and Boston Medical Center of Boston University in the United States, and visited and studied at Boston Children's Hospital of Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital and Miami Medical Center. After returning to China, he successively served as Director of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Director of the Cardiovascular Medicine Division, Academic Leader and Chief Expert of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. With more than 40 years of medical practice, he has rich clinical experience and academic attainments in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac surgical diseases. He successfully performed the first heart transplantation, combined heart-lung transplantation, combined heart-kidney transplantation, off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting, total aortic arch replacement and hybrid surgery, surgical ablation for atrial fibrillation in the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, as well as complex surgeries such as complex congenital heart diseases (complete atrioventricular canal malformation, total anomalous pulmonary venous connection) and arterial switch operation.
