Chief Physician of Cardiac Surgery, Doctoral Supervisor, and currently Deputy Director of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. He graduated from the Department of Clinical Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University School of Medicine in 2003. He worked as a visiting scholar at Stanford University School of Medicine in the United States in 2017. As a technical backbone in the specialty of cardiac and great vessel surgery, he has performed more than 3,000 operations including various congenital heart disease surgeries, valve replacement procedures and coronary artery bypass grafting during his career. He has extensive clinical experience in coronary artery bypass grafting for complex lesions, minimally invasive cardiac valve surgery and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). High-difficulty level-IV cardiac operations performed by him account for 89.9%, with an average CMI of 7.21. In recent years, he has actively carried out innovative techniques including endoscopic minimally invasive cardiac valve surgery, multi-vessel arterial bypass surgery and TAVI/TMVR. He is one of the pioneers in South China to perform the axillary minimally invasive "less apparent incision" (LAMELAS) valve surgery. He leads the development of new techniques such as bilateral skeletonized internal mammary artery harvesting and ultrasonic scalpel radial artery harvesting, and promotes endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) technique. His department is among the earliest institutions in South China with the largest case volume of such procedures. He is currently a core member of the TAVI team in the Department of Cardiac Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. In 2022, his hospital was one of the institutions with the largest number of transapical TAVI cases in the province, and he serves as a provincial training instructor for transapical TAVI. He won the Earl Bakken Award from the Chinese Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery of the Chinese Medical Association in 2018.
