Work Experience:
- Engaged in clinical practice in the Department of Cardiology, The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, and serves as the Executive Director of the Department of Cardiology at Nansha Campus.
- He pioneered a series of new interventional techniques in Guangdong Province, including Shockwave lithotripsy balloon, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral edge-to-edge repair and atrial shunt device implantation. He completed the first transvenous "valve-in-valve-in-valve" TMVR procedure nationwide in 2022, the first transcatheter mitral valve replacement for degenerated bioprosthetic mitral valve (valve-in-valve) in South China, and the first one-stop MitraClip plus LAAC procedure in South China.
- He has been invited to provide procedural training and academic exchanges at more than 20 medical centers across China, enjoying a good academic reputation.
- He was awarded the title of "Excellent Doctor of The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University" in 2021.
Research Achievements:
- He has long been committed to basic and translational research on metabolic cardiovascular diseases. In recent years, he has published over 40 SCI papers as first or corresponding author in high-impact journals including Diabetes Care, EClinicalMedicine, Metabolism, Environ Int, Eur J Epidemiol, Cardiovasc Diabetol, Eur J Prev Cardiol and Atherosclerosis.
- He has received grants including the Youth Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province and Guangdong Science and Technology Program. As a core team member, he participates in the National Key Research and Development Program project: Molecular Mechanism of Cardiomyocyte Dedifferentiation Induced by Reprogramming Small Chemical Molecules and Its Application in Cardiac Regeneration and Repair.
- He led the establishment of the first multicenter registry database for metabolic cardiovascular diseases in South China, and initiated the world’s first multicenter randomized controlled trial investigating the therapeutic effects of SGLT2 inhibitors on mitral regurgitation and myocardial fibrosis in patients with heart failure.
- He holds one invention patent (A method and system for predicting cardiovascular disease risk in prediabetes, Patent No. CN202210334081.3). He has been repeatedly invited to present his findings on the mechanism of diabetic cardiomyopathy and novel metabolic pharmacotherapy at the Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology Congress.
Medical Expertise: His main research interests cover the diagnosis and management of coronary heart disease, heart failure, hypertension, metabolic cardiovascular diseases and degenerative valvular heart diseases. He specializes in minimally invasive interventional therapy for complex coronary lesions, severe aortic stenosis/regurgitation and mitral regurgitation.
