Education and Work Experience

Graduated from the Department of Medicine, Sun Yat‑sen University of Medical Sciences with a bachelor’s degree in 1993. He has been engaged in clinical work in the Department of Pediatrics, the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat‑sen University ever since. He began clinical practice and research in pediatric endocrinology in 1999 and obtained his doctoral degree in pediatric endocrinology in 2004. In 2007, he pursued advanced studies at the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, National Center for Child Health and Development in Tokyo, Japan, where he conducted research on the etiology of childhood obesity and genes associated with precocious puberty. In December 2019, he attended the Henning Anderson Educational Program in Paediatric Endocrinology.

Research Interests

Etiological analysis and management of childhood short stature; diagnosis and treatment of endocrine disorders of puberty; the association between adiposity rebound in children and long‑term metabolic syndrome; regulatory genes related to congenital hypothyroidism.

Clinical Expertise

Diagnosis and management of pediatric endocrine diseases, including growth disorders: various forms of short stature (such as growth hormone deficiency, short stature for gestational age, idiopathic short stature, etc.), precocious puberty (central and peripheral precocious puberty), delayed puberty (constitutional delay of growth and puberty, gonadal dysfunction, etc.), disorders of sex development (including micropenis, cryptorchidism, genital malformations, etc.); adrenal diseases (including congenital adrenal hyperplasia); thyroid disorders; childhood obesity and diabetes mellitus. He has rich experience in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric endocrine diseases, with particular expertise in managing childhood short stature and precocious puberty.
