Education and Work Experience

He graduated from the six‑year English‑taught Program of Sun Yat‑sen University of Medical Sciences. He pursued further study in Australia from 1995 to 1997. He was the first recipient of the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award in Guangdong medical community. He has served successively as Deputy Director of the Internal Medicine Teaching and Research Section, Deputy Director of the Medical Experimental Center and Deputy Director of the Department of Nephrology.

Systemic lupus erythematosus and lupus nephritis.

Research Achievements

He has presided over 6 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. His awards include the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of the Ministry of Education Nomination Award for National Science and Technology, the Second Prize of Guangdong Science and Technology Award, the First Prize of the Natural Science Award of Chinese Universities, and the Second Prize of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award. He has published more than 30 papers in prestigious journals such as Arthritis & Rheumatology, Kidney International and Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases. He is the chief editor of 3 monographs including Nephrotic Syndrome published by People’s Medical Publishing House. He also serves as associate editor for the 1st and 2nd editions of the standardized residency training textbook Internal Medicine: Rheumatology and Immunology Volume and Differential Diagnosis of Internal Diseases (People’s Medical Publishing House).

Clinical Expertise

He has rich experience in the diagnosis and treatment of common, severe and refractory rheumatic diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Takayasu arteritis, ANCA‑associated vasculitis, idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (such as anti‑MDA5 positive dermatomyositis), connective tissue disease‑related interstitial lung disease, Behçet’s disease, Sjögren’s syndrome, IgG4‑related disease, antiphospholipid syndrome, systemic sclerosis, Henoch‑Schönlein purpura, psoriatic arthritis and gout. He also has abundant experience in the prevention and treatment of chronic glomerulonephritis, IgA nephropathy and renal failure. He specializes in renal injury secondary to rheumatic and immune disorders, such as lupus nephritis, renal damage caused by vasculitis or Sjögren’s syndrome.
