Director of the Department of Nephrology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat‑sen University. Expert entitled to Special Government Allowance of the State Council, Professor, Chief Physician and Doctoral Supervisor. He completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School. Recipient of the National May 1st Labor Medal and National Advanced Worker in Health Sector.

Research Achievements

He has presided over more than 10 research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and provincial and ministerial funds. As a major contributor, he was awarded the Second Prize of Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award and the Second Prize of Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education. In recent years, he has published more than 40 SCI papers as first or corresponding author, among which 6 articles have an impact factor over 10.

Clinical Expertise

He specializes in the precision diagnosis and treatment of acute kidney injury, chronic kidney failure (uremia), primary renal diseases (e.g. IgA nephropathy, chronic glomerulonephritis), secondary renal diseases (e.g. diabetic nephropathy, hypertensive nephropathy, lupus nephritis, vasculitis-associated renal injury), and immune-mediated kidney diseases (e.g. membranous nephropathy, refractory nephrotic syndrome). He is especially good at developing individualized therapeutic regimens for various severe and complicated renal disorders. He has extensive experience in renal biopsy, peritoneal dialysis catheter placement, hemodialysis and related procedures.
