Education and Work Experience

Sep 2009 – Dec 2014: Doctoral Candidate in Systems Biology and Physiology, University of Cincinnati, USA Oct 2014 – Present: Department of Gastroenterology, The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. Currently Associate Chief Physician and Doctoral Supervisor. His main clinical focus is the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis) and small bowel diseases. He is skilled in endoscopic procedures, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions under gastroscopy, colonoscopy and enteroscopy. He was honored as one of the Outstanding Young Physicians in Guangdong Province.

Research Interests and Achievements

His research is dedicated to clinical and basic studies on gut microbiota in IBD. He has published more than 20 SCI papers as (co-)first or corresponding author in journals including Gastroenterology, Nature Communications and Microbiome. He has presided over 2 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 Guangdong Distinguished Young Scholar Fund, and 1 General Program of Guangdong Natural Science Foundation. He has also participated in the National Key R&D Program, Guangdong Key R&D Program and special IBD projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

Clinical Expertise

After obtaining his doctoral degree in the United States in 2014, he joined the Department of Gastroenterology of The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of common and prevalent disorders of the digestive system, covering the stomach, small intestine, colon, liver, biliary tract, pancreas and other organs.
