Jul 1987 – Present: Department of Stomatology, The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. He has successively served as Resident Physician, Attending Physician, Associate Professor / Associate Chief Physician, Professor / Chief Physician. He has been the Director of the Department of Stomatology since 2005.

Research Achievements

His research covers basic and clinical studies on oral and maxillofacial tumors and sequential treatment of cleft lip and palate. He has presided over 1 National Natural Science Foundation project and 8 provincial and ministerial research projects. He has published more than 40 papers as first or corresponding author in domestic and international journals. He is the chief editor of the monograph Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Protocols for Stomatological Diseases and a co-author of 2 other books.

Clinical Expertise

He has long been engaged in clinical practice, teaching and research in oral and maxillofacial surgery, with rich experience in managing common and complicated disorders in this field. He specializes in surgical resection and post-operative reconstruction of benign and malignant oral and maxillofacial tumors, including oral cancers such as tongue carcinoma, buccal carcinoma and gingival carcinoma, jaw tumors, parotid tumors, infantile hemangiomas and lymphangiomas. He is experienced in the management of maxillofacial fractures, including maxillary and mandibular fractures, zygomaticomaxillary fractures and complex midfacial fractures. He also performs plastic and reconstructive surgery for maxillofacial trauma, tissue defects, deformities and congenital cleft lip and palate.
