Research Achievements

He has published more than 20 SCI papers as (co-)first or corresponding author, launched 6 new clinical techniques at the hospital, and presided over or participated in 7 provincial and higher-level research projects. He is a key contributor to one First Prize, one Third Prize of the Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Award, and one Third Prize of the Guangzhou Science and Technology Progress Award. He has also participated in writing four monographs.

Clinical Expertise

He specializes in kidney transplantation, including living donor kidney transplantation, ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation and normothermic machine perfusion kidney transplantation. He has performed over 1000 kidney transplant operations as the primary surgeon. His case volume and success rate of living donor kidney transplantation rank among the leading level in Guangdong Province. He has pioneered multiple first-in-China and first-in-Guangdong clinical techniques, such as laparoscopic and robotic minimally invasive living donor nephrectomy, ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation and kidney transplantation for highly sensitized recipients. He has carried out groundbreaking procedures including the world’s first in-situ isolated renal perfusion therapy and second-phase normothermic machine perfusion kidney transplantation. He manages numerous complex and difficult transplant cases, including transplant renal artery stenosis, ureteral stricture or obstruction of the graft, and fertility management for female kidney transplant recipients of childbearing age.
