Education and Work Experience He commenced his medical study in the Medical Program of Hengyang Medical College in September 1980 and has been engaged in medicine for 32 years. He pursued his master’s and doctoral degrees at Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences starting from September 1987 and September 1993 respectively. After graduating with his bachelor’s degree in June 1985, he worked at the college for two years. He has remained at this hospital since July 1992 upon completion of his master’s degree.

Research Interests Conventional and minimally invasive total knee arthroplasty, total hip arthroplasty, and revision arthroplasty of the knee and hip.

Clinical Expertise He focuses mainly on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the knee, hip, ankle, shoulder and elbow joints, with particular expertise in conventional and minimally invasive total knee arthroplasty, total hip arthroplasty, and revision arthroplasty of the knee and hip. He is among the early clinicians conducting clinical practice and research in joint surgery. He has received specialized training in joint surgery and hip and knee arthroplasty under distinguished mentors in the United States, France, Germany, Taiwan and Hong Kong. His main research areas include age-related knee disorders, osteonecrosis of the femoral head, developmental dysplasia of the hip, osteoporosis, lower limb articular fractures, correction of lower limb deformities and bone healing. In recent years, he has developed minimally invasive total knee arthroplasty and achieved remarkable results in instrument optimization, precise positioning, trauma reduction, surgical outcome improvement and accelerated rehabilitation. His research on minimally invasive total knee arthroplasty has received support from Guangdong Province, Guangzhou Municipal Government, Sun Yat-sen University and this hospital.
