A renowned orthopedic expert, he holds a Doctor of Medicine degree, and is Professor, Chief Physician, Master’s and Doctoral Supervisor. He currently serves as Director of the Department of Orthopedics, The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. He has been engaged in clinical practice in orthopedics and joint surgery for nearly 30 years. He has presided over 3 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and 10 provincial and ministerial research grants, and participated as a key member in 3 major national research projects. He has published 11 papers in international journals and 56 articles in domestic professional journals. As a major contributor, he has won 3 Science and Technology Progress Awards issued by the Ministry of Education and Guangdong Province. He has supervised 15 doctoral students, 17 master’s students and 2 postdoctoral researchers.

Education and Work Experience He obtained his doctoral degree in Orthopedics from The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences and has worked at this hospital ever since graduation. He received further training at the University of Hong Kong and University Hospital Cologne, Germany.

Research Interests:

1. Diagnosis and surgical treatment of various hip and knee arthritides, including osteonecrosis of the femoral head, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, developmental dysplasia of the hip, joint deformities and fractures;
2. Primary and revision arthroplasty of the hip and knee;
3. Intra-articular fractures and articular cartilage repair.

Clinical Expertise: He specializes in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of various arthritides and joint disorders. He has extensive clinical experience in managing osteonecrosis of the femoral head, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, developmental dysplasia of the hip, joint deformities, sports injuries and different types of fractures. His techniques in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, various corrective osteotomies and fracture reduction and internal fixation are in line with international advanced standards. He pursues minimally invasive, safe procedures with meticulous craftsmanship to achieve satisfactory clinical outcomes.
