Education and Work Experience: He graduated in Clinical Medicine from Zhongshan Medical College in 1970. He successively served as Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor of Surgery, Master’s Supervisor, Doctoral Supervisor, Director of the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery and Director of the Surgical Teaching and Research Section at The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. Currently, he is Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Director of the Surgical Teaching and Research Section and Chief Expert of Hepatobiliary Surgery at the hospital.

2. Basic and clinical research on the recurrence and metastasis of hepatobiliary malignancies He has obtained 4 research achievement awards from the Ministry of Education and provincial authorities, 2 Guangdong Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards. He has presided over 10 research projects and holds one patent.

(2) Publications He has published more than 300 papers as the first or corresponding author in Chinese and English medical journals worldwide, including nearly 20 SCI-indexed articles. He is a recipient of the Special Government Allowance of the State Council and a National Distinguished Teacher. His techniques for surgical management of liver cancer invading major blood vessels, challenging hepatectomy and radical resection of cholangiocarcinoma are leading within and beyond Guangdong Province. He is a nationally renowned expert with international influence. His research findings on the diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer have won the Second Prize of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Award and the Third Prize of Guangdong Science and Technology Award.

He has extensive clinical experience in abdominal surgery, especially in the diagnosis and treatment of hepatobiliary-pancreatic-splenic diseases including calculi, cysts, neoplasms, cirrhotic portal hypertension and pancreatic tumors. He specializes in surgical management of hepatic, biliary and pancreatic tumors, as well as complicated and reoperated hepatolithiasis.
