Education and Work Experience: He graduated from the Department of Clinical Medicine, Sun Yat-sen College of Medical Sciences in 1983. He completed his postgraduate studies at Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences (now Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University) in 1988. Starting from 1989, he worked successively as Senior Visiting Scholar at Grantham Hospital of the University of Hong Kong, Board-certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon at National University Hospital of Singapore, Research Fellow at the International Heart Institute of the University of Montana, USA, and Visiting Scholar in Cardiothoracic Surgery at St. Patrick Hospital.

In 1995, he was selected into the university-level talent program of the National Cross-Century Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talent Training Plan.

Publications and Monographs: He has published more than 150 academic papers in SCI-indexed journals and domestic core journals. He has edited and contributed to multiple academic monographs.

Achievements: He has presented papers at numerous Asian academic conferences and served as moderator at Asian and European cardiothoracic surgery conferences. He has won the Asia-Pacific Excellent Cardiothoracic Surgery Paper Award twice. He has presided over 5 research projects funded at the national and Ministry of Health levels, 7 provincial research projects and participated in one international collaborative research project.

Research Interests: Research on standardized minimally invasive surgery for lung cancer.

With over 30 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery, he has extensive clinical experience in the surgical management of common and complicated cardiothoracic conditions, including lung cancer, esophageal cancer, myasthenia gravis, mediastinal tumors, giant intrathoracic tumors, esophageal stricture, benign esophageal tumors, achalasia, bronchiectasis, pulmonary bullae, spontaneous pneumothorax, congenital heart disease, rheumatic valvular heart disease and coronary artery disease. He specializes in minimally invasive thoracoscopic surgery, including complete thoracoscopic radical resection for lung cancer, mediastinal tumor resection, extended thymectomy and Nuss procedure for pectus excavatum, as well as comprehensive treatment for lung cancer. He is the chief expert of the Guangdong Training Base for Standardized Minimally Invasive Lung Cancer Surgery appointed by the Science and Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Health.
