He pursued his undergraduate studies at Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences from 1980 to 1986 and undertook doctoral studies at Sun Yat-sen University between 1992 and 1995. After graduating in 1986, he has remained on the faculty ever since. Since 2017, he has served as Director of the Department of Urology, Director of the Surgical Anesthesia Center, Director of the General Surgery Division and Director of the Surgery Teaching and Research Section at The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.

Achievements: He has won the Second Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award issued by the Ministry of Health, the Second Prize of the Science and Technology Award for Chinese Universities, the Second and Third Prizes of the Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Award. His honorary titles include “Lingnan Famous Doctor”, “Guangzhou Excellent Doctor”, the Golden Scalpel Award from the Oncologic Subgroup of the 3rd Urology Branch of Guangdong Medical Association in 2014, the Guangdong Physician Award from Guangdong Medical Doctor Association in 2020, Outstanding Clinical Department Director of Guangdong Hospitals in 2021, the Kelin Award of The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Outstanding Party Worker and Outstanding Education Administrator of Sun Yat-sen University in 2022, the inaugural “Guangzhou Famous Doctor” in 2023, and the China Industry-University-Research Craftsman Spirit Award in 2023.

He is the principal investigator for the National Key Clinical Specialty Development Program (Urology) and a health care specialist for cadres appointed by the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee. In recent years, he has published more than 60 papers in SCI-indexed journals and domestic core journals and edited three monographs including Urologic Surgery. He completed the first robot-assisted radical nephrectomy with vena cava tumor thrombectomy and the first robot-assisted transperineal radical prostatectomy in South China. He is a recipient of the Golden Scalpel Award and the inaugural “Guangzhou Famous Doctor”.

Research Interests: Minimally invasive treatment of urological tumors, with a primary focus on the diagnosis and management of prostate cancer.

He has dedicated nearly 40 years to clinical practice, teaching and scientific research. He specializes in minimally invasive techniques including robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy with preservation of sexual and urinary continence function, and nephron-sparing surgery for benign and malignant renal tumors. He is proficient in the diagnosis and treatment of urological tumors such as renal cell carcinoma, bladder cancer and prostate cancer, congenital urinary malformations including duplicated kidney, ureteropelvic junction obstruction, retrocaval ureter and megaureter, as well as adrenal tumors and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
