The Ultrasound Department of the International Peace Maternity and Child Health Hospital of the China Welfare Institute was founded in the late 1970s. After more than 30 years of continuous development, it has become a specialized discipline integrating medical services (ultrasound diagnosis, treatment, and some surgical ultrasound), teaching, and scientific research. The department currently has 22 full-time doctors and is equipped with 24 ultrasound diagnostic machines, including internationally first-class ultrasound medical imaging equipment such as Philips iU Elite, Philips iU22, Philips iE33, GE VOLUSON E8, and GE VOLUSON E6. The department consists of several sections, including outpatient ultrasound, inpatient ultrasound, family planning ultrasound, VIP ultrasound, special needs ultrasound, prenatal diagnostic ultrasound, and breast ultrasound. The obstetrics department of our hospital has maintained an annual delivery volume of over 10,000 for many consecutive years. The ultrasound department undertakes a large number of general obstetric ultrasound examinations for pregnant women, screening for some fetal anomalies, fetal echocardiography, and fetal-placental hemodynamic monitoring. It has accumulated rich experience in obstetric ultrasound diagnosis, with diagnostic standards reaching the advanced domestic level, and some technical levels already in line with international standards. It has a high level of diagnostic and differential diagnostic capability for common gynecological diseases, frequently occurring diseases, complicated and rare conditions, and special types of ectopic pregnancy. It carries out gynecological ultrasound interventional therapy and intraoperative ultrasound monitoring, and actively explores contrast-enhanced ultrasound examination of ovarian tumors and three-dimensional ultrasound examination. 　　Our hospital has a perinatal consultation center and a prenatal diagnosis clinic, mainly for the screening and diagnosis of fetal genetic diseases and intrauterine developmental defects, as well as the diagnostic analysis of complicated and rare conditions during the perinatal period. The ultrasound consultation work is jointly undertaken by experts from our department and some ultrasound experts from other hospitals in Shanghai, providing valuable information for clinical diagnosis and treatment, and making positive contributions to reducing birth defects, improving perinatal quality, and promoting healthy birth and child rearing, thereby earning a good social reputation.
