It conducts examinations including ocular A-scan, B-scan, color ultrasound, corneal endothelial microscopy, corneal topography, optical biometry (IOLmaster, Lenstar), visual electrophysiology (ERG, mfERG, VEP, EOG), confocal microscopy, ultrasound biomicroscopy, external eye photography (eye position images), anterior segment photography, fundus photography, ultra-widefield and true-color fundus photography, anterior segment optical coherence tomography, posterior segment optical coherence tomography and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), autofluorescence, Goldmann dynamic perimetry, Humphrey static perimetry, Octopus static perimetry, and Goldmann applanation tonometry, capable of completing structural and functional examinations of all parts of the eye, fully meeting the medical needs of patients in all aspects. The center is characterized by professional high-quality talents and rich clinical experience, with 16 doctoral degree holders and 9 master's degree holders, including 4 senior title physicians, 19 intermediate title physicians, 2 junior title physicians, and 38 technicians. Department members publish more than 10 articles in domestic and international professional journals each year, serve as chief editors and co-editors of multiple ophthalmology monographs, and have held multiple online and offline auxiliary examination training courses. The professional standards have been unanimously recognized and enjoy widespread reputation among patients. Low Vision Rehabilitation Discipline The Low Vision Rehabilitation Discipline is centered on eye health, mainly targeting visual impairment or visual damage caused by various eye diseases. It conducts visual function assessment and rehabilitation needs assessment, and based on optical correction, provides comprehensive rehabilitation strategies including visual assistive devices, assistive technology, and visual training, to improve the visual function of the low vision population to a certain extent and help them utilize their residual visual function to participate in normal life. The low vision specialty clinic of our hospital has been established since 2002, utilizing optometric technology combined with low vision rehabilitation technology to serve long-term the visually impaired population caused by high myopia, congenital eye diseases, glaucoma, retinopathy, etc., and continuously participates in public welfare activities and social support for the visually impaired. In 2023, the Low Vision and Presbyopia Specialty Center was newly established, which will continue to strengthen scientific research and clinical translation, explore and develop advantageous technologies, establish and improve a low vision diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation platform, and provide better services for the visually impaired population. The team is composed of clinical physicians, technicians, and professional optometrists. Blindness Prevention and Epidemiology Discipline In active response to the call of "Healthy China 2030" and the "14th Five-Year National Eye Health Plan (2021-2025)", the Blindness Prevention and Epidemiology Discipline was established in 2023, aiming to base itself on the occurrence, development, distribution, and risk factors of common eye diseases in the population, explore related pathogenic causes and effective preventive measures, and actively promote the sinking of blindness prevention technology to the grassroots level, establish a continuous diagnosis and treatment mechanism of eye disease prevention-screening-treatment-rehabilitation, and strongly support and promote eye health work. The discipline leader is Associate Chief Physician Wen Wen, master's supervisor, currently a member of the Public Health Ophthalmology Branch of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, a member of the Digital Medicine Committee of the China Medical Education Association, and a youth member of the China Women Physicians Association. The discipline undertakes projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China and general projects of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, has applied for multiple national invention patents and transformation applications, and has hosted multiple public welfare activities including the national "Love Your Eyes Day" main venue event. Ophthalmology Traditional Chinese Medicine Department The Ophthalmology Traditional Chinese Medicine Department inherits the characteristics of Shanghai-style traditional Chinese medicine therapy, carries forward the spirit of "using the ancient for the present and using the foreign for the Chinese", and on the basis of inheriting the traditional Chinese medicine "Five Wheel Theory" and zang-fu syndrome differentiation, with the help of advanced modern medical equipment, integrates Chinese and Western medicine to deepen ocular diagnosis and treatment. According to the occurrence and evolution patterns of diseases, it treats diseases before they occur to prevent trouble; emphasizes the combination of syndrome differentiation and disease differentiation, with staging and typing jointly differentiated; combines specialty characteristics, integrates internal and external treatment, coordinates local and systemic regulation, and treats with both acupuncture and medication. It demonstrates the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in treating eye diseases such as dry eye, visual fatigue, myopia, diplopia, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, open-angle glaucoma, and optic nerve atrophy.
