The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Renji Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine is a "Famous Department" of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Pudong New Area, a National-level Famous Old Chinese Medicine Expert Studio, and a Heritage Base for Characteristic Techniques of the Shanghai Acupuncture and Moxibustion School. The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine has always prioritized the safety of patients' lives. On the basis of inheriting the academic experience of predecessors, it conducts in-depth exploration, takes diseases as the center, develops the construction of distinctive sub-specialty disciplines, improves core competitiveness, strengthens scientific research and talent team building, and builds advantageous disciplines of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Since its establishment, the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Renji Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine has continuously improved and expanded its medical, teaching, and scientific research strength. It is a clinical discipline of Traditional Chinese Medicine with strong technical strength and a solid medical foundation. At present, the department has 19 medical, technical, and nursing staff, including well-known experts and scholars such as doctoral supervisors, master's supervisors, professors, and associate professors. Among them are 1 Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine Leading Talent, 2 "Xinglin New Star" Traditional Chinese Medicine talents, and 1 "Pujiang Outstanding Young Talent" of Renji Hospital. It has also successively trained multiple doctoral and master's students in the fields of oncology, immunology, and gynecology. The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine currently includes outpatient services at four campuses: East Campus, West Campus, South Campus, and North Campus (including special needs, expert, specialized disease, and general outpatient services). Specialty outpatient services include subspecialties such as asthma, kidney disease, gynecological tumors, and acupuncture rehabilitation, developing the construction of distinctive sub-specialty disciplines. In clinical application, the "acupuncture and medication method for tonifying the kidney and regulating the menstrual cycle" is used to treat gynecological endocrine diseases, and sequential herbal therapy is used to treat postoperative patients with gynecological tumors, improving patients' quality of life, increasing survival rates, and prolonging disease-free survival. The distinctive diagnostic and treatment technique based on "disease of the Governor Vessel" is applied to treat chronic headache, dizziness, cough and asthma, and waist and leg pain. The department undertakes multiple national and municipal-level scientific research projects, including National Natural Science Foundation projects, projects of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and "Star of Jiaotong University" projects, enriching the connotation of scientific research. Its comprehensive level in medicine, teaching, and research has reached a leading level among Traditional Chinese Medicine departments nationwide.
