The Department of Cardiology at Renji Hospital has a profound historical foundation and is a National Key Clinical Discipline of the Ministry of Health, a National 211 Key Discipline of the Ministry of Education, one of the first domestic master's and doctoral degree granting programs, one of the first continuing education colleges of the American College of Cardiology, one of the first national cardiovascular specialist training bases, a national hypertension science education and training base, and a national-level chest pain center, national-level heart failure center, national-level atrial fibrillation center, and national-level rehabilitation center. It is currently distributed across five campuses: East, West, South, Hangzhou Bay, and Baoshan, and has a coronary heart disease center, electrophysiology and pacing center, heart failure center, pulmonary vascular disease center, structural heart disease and cardiovascular imaging center, hypertension center, cardiac rehabilitation center, and clinical research and pharmacology center, etc.; with 250,000 outpatient and emergency visits per year, nearly 10,000 annual discharges, and more than 11,000 surgeries, its medical diagnosis and treatment capabilities, disciplinary talent training, and scientific research academic level are at the leading domestic level. Cardiology is one of the fastest-growing disciplines in the world today, encompassing both exquisite minimally invasive cardiovascular surgical procedures and vigorously developing cardiac theory and practice. The three major cardiovascular journals Circulation, JACC, and EHJ have always ranked among the world's top journals, which shows the foundation and development of cardiology. The research results have been incorporated into internationally authoritative textbooks such as the "Textbook of Cardiovascular Medicine: Braunwald's Heart Disease" and the "European Cardiovascular Imaging Guidelines," as well as other cardiovascular clinical guidelines and medical standards.
