The Department of Ultrasound Medicine at Renji Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine is a National Key Clinical Specialty, a Shanghai Key Discipline, a master's and doctoral degree training site for Shanghai Jiao Tong University, a clinical trial institution for medical devices, and a national standardized residency training base (ultrasound specialty). It currently has 39 physicians, including 4 chief physicians, 10 associate chief physicians, 1 doctoral supervisor, and 4 master's supervisors. A total of 86% of the physicians in the department have postgraduate degrees (28% with doctoral degrees and 58% with master's degrees). Professor Jiang Lixin, Director of the Department, currently serves as a member of the Ultrasound Medicine Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association and Head of the Intervention Group, President-elect of the Ultrasound Branch of the Shanghai Association of Integrative Medicine, Vice President and Council Member of the Chinese Association of Ultrasound in Medicine and Engineering, Vice Chair of the First and Second Tumor Ultrasound Therapy Committees of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, Vice President of the Third Ultrasound Equipment Technology Branch of the China Association of Medical Equipment, and Deputy Head of the Ultrasound Therapy Group of the Ultrasound Medicine Expert Committee of the National Energy Construction Center. The Department of Ultrasound Medicine is equipped with excellent medical ultrasound equipment and has more than 20 high-end color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic devices. The department has strong medical strength. At present, ultrasound diagnosis and interventional treatment are at the leading domestic level, with more than one million examinations annually. The volume of contrast-enhanced ultrasound and ultrasound-guided puncture intervention is about 6,000 cases per year. It has carried out projects including abdominal organs, superficial small organs, blood vessels, musculoskeletal, andrology, heart, and interventional ultrasound, fully meeting clinical needs and serving patients as much as possible. The sub-specialty groups and research directions are complete, including: ① ultrasound diagnosis of male infertility and the urogenital system; ② perioperative ultrasound monitoring and evaluation of liver and kidney transplantation; ③ gastrointestinal ultrasound diagnosis; ④ musculoskeletal and nerve ultrasound diagnosis; ⑤ ultrasound diagnosis of endocrine and metabolic diseases; ⑥ ultrasound diagnosis of heart diseases; ⑦ contrast-enhanced ultrasound for clinical diseases; ⑧ interventional ultrasound diagnosis and treatment; ⑨ ultrasound diagnosis of superficial organs such as the thyroid and breast; ⑩ pediatric ultrasound diagnosis, etc. In particular, the specialty feature of ultrasound diagnosis of male infertility has considerable influence internationally and domestically. In recent years, under the leadership of Professor Li Fenghua and Professor Jiang Lixin, the Department Director, we have closely followed the frontiers of disciplinary development, carried out multiple initiatives, and achieved many results: participation in international academic conferences for exchange many times (AFSUMB; RSNA; ECR), and receipt of titles and talent program projects such as Outstanding Discipline Leader, Oriental Talent Program Top-notch Project, Medical Garden New Star, Rising Star, and Sailing. The department has undertaken a total of 13 National Natural Science Foundation projects and more than 30 provincial/ministerial/bureau-level scientific research projects, and has published more than 200 SCI papers and Chinese core journal papers. It served as editor-in-chief of the monograph "Ultrasound Dynamic Atlas of Male Infertility," 1 volume, republished in 2021; editor-in-chief of the monograph "Fetal Echocardiography," 1 volume; associate editor-in-chief of more than 20 monographs; and participated in the compilation of the undergraduate medical course textbook "Medical Imaging Diagnostics." It has won the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, the Third Prize of the Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Award, and the Third Prize of the Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award.
