Department Introduction Department Overview Wei's Traumatology, established in 1956, is a renowned school of traditional Chinese medicine orthopedics and traumatology in China. Wei's Traumatology is characterized by holistic treatment, internal and external medication, skilled manipulation, and emphasis on daoyin (guided exercise), constituting its academic school features. Under the holistic concept of "equal emphasis on internal and external treatment, and simultaneous consideration of qi and blood," it has established the academic thoughts of prioritizing qi and blood while emphasizing both sinews and bones; focusing on the liver and kidneys while regulating the spleen and stomach; and emphasizing manipulation to restore balance. It has become one of the schools of traditional Chinese medicine orthopedics and traumatology with significant influence in Shanghai and throughout the country. The annual outpatient volume reaches 50,000 to 70,000, with an average of over 1,300 discharged patients per year. In clinical practice, it excels in applying manipulation, internal and external medication, and daoyin therapy to treat various orthopedic and traumatic diseases, achieving good therapeutic effects in diagnosing and treating difficult and complicated cases. Its proprietary preparations, including "Zhengfu Formula," "Sanqi Duangu Babu Ointment," and "Xiaozhong Powder," have definite efficacy and are widely used. Wei's Traumatology has successively undertaken 7 national-level projects, more than 20 projects from the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, 15 projects from the Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau, and 2 projects from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.
