Department Introduction Department Overview Since Ruijin Hospital took the lead in establishing Pediatric Surgery nationwide in 1954, it has developed for over 60 years. Under the careful guidance and assistance of renowned senior experts and professors in China, through the efforts of several generations of department directors and all medical and nursing staff, leveraging the strong comprehensive strength of Ruijin Hospital, Pediatric Surgery at Ruijin Hospital has grown into two campuses: Ruijin Main Hospital and Ruijin North Hospital. Pediatric Surgery includes subspecialties such as Pediatric General Surgery, Pediatric Orthopedics, Pediatric Urology, and Pediatric Hand Surgery. Diagnosis and treatment of common diseases in Pediatric Surgery: Non-surgical treatment of congenital umbilical polyp (carried out for decades, with tens of thousands of cases treated and a cure rate of 100%); Manual reduction non-surgical treatment and surgical treatment of pediatric fractures (carried out for decades, with tens of thousands of cases treated and a cure rate of 100%); Concealed penis, congenital penoscrotal fusion, phimosis, and preputial adhesions (various minimally invasive urological surgeries carried out for decades, with tens of thousands of cases treated and a cure rate of 100%). Laparoscopic treatment of indirect inguinal hernia and appendicitis (carried out for 3 years, with hundreds of cases treated and a cure rate of 100%) Laparoscopic treatment of Meckel's diverticulum and other pediatric general surgical diseases (carried out for 3 years, with hundreds of cases treated and a cure rate of 100%) Pediatric disorders of sex development, non-surgical treatment of scoliosis, polydactyly and syndactyly in children, amniotic band syndrome, correction of complex congenital limb deformities, brachial plexus injury (obstetric palsy), treatment of nerve and tendon injuries, and robot-assisted surgical system treatment of pancreatic tumors, among others, are uniquely featured with rich clinical diagnosis and treatment experience. Among them, the Da Vinci robot-assisted surgical operating system is nationally leading in the treatment of pancreatic tumors. Currently, the department has 12 doctors, including 1 chief physician, 2 associate chief physicians, 4 attending physicians, and 5 resident physicians. Over 90% of the doctors hold master's or doctoral degrees, and about 70% have studied abroad in the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Japan, and other countries, forming a "progressive, united, and excellent" physician team. The department has respectively undertaken multiple research projects from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China on topics such as pediatric disorders of sex development, and has trained a large number of professional backbone talents, publishing hundreds of papers in SCI and Chinese core journals. The main clinical diagnosis and treatment programs carried out by Pediatric Surgery at Ruijin Hospital include: Pediatric General Surgery, Pediatric Urology, Neonatal Surgery, Pediatric Orthopedics, and Pediatric Hand Surgery. Currently, at Ruijin Main Hospital, Pediatric Surgery outpatient services are available from Monday to Friday (including general outpatient, urology specialty outpatient, and expert outpatient). At Ruijin North Hospital, Pediatric Surgery outpatient services are available from Monday to Saturday (including general outpatient, pediatric orthopedics specialty outpatient, pediatric urology specialty outpatient, and expert outpatient).
