The Emergency Department of Peking University International Hospital was officially established and opened in 2015, covering a total area of 3,800 square meters. It is divided into Emergency Internal Medicine, Emergency Surgery, Emergency Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Emergency Specialties (Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, etc.). There are 6 consultation rooms for Internal Medicine/Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Specialties, 1 debridement room, 1 plaster room, and 2 emergency operating rooms. Currently, there are a total of 21 beds, including 10 resuscitation beds (which can be expanded to 15 under emergency conditions), 10 observation beds, and 1 isolation bed; 6 EICU beds and 12 emergency ward beds. Over the 7 years since its opening, the outpatient volume has increased year by year, reaching 85,000 visits in 2024, with over 7,000 observation and resuscitation cases. The Emergency Department currently has 1 specially appointed professor, 4 associate chief physicians, 9 attending physicians, and 7 physicians. In November 2025, the Emergency Department Rabies Prevention and Treatment Clinic was established. The Emergency Department is a member unit of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Peking University and can receive and treat various acute and critical illnesses, trauma, animal bites and stings, poisoning, and other emergencies. It has particularly rich experience in treating elderly critically ill patients and is also a Beijing Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center.
