The Department of Laboratory Medicine was established in 2014 and is located on the second floor of the Outpatient Building and the first floor of the Infectious Diseases Building, with a total floor area of over 3,400 square meters. It comprehensively undertakes the laboratory testing work for outpatients, emergency patients, inpatients, and the Physical Examination Center of the entire hospital. The department has a strong talent梯队 and a well-established disciplinary structure. It currently has 47 staff members, including 2 chief physicians/chief technologists, 3 associate chief physicians/technologists, 19 with intermediate professional titles, and 12 master's and doctoral graduate students. The department is equipped with dozens of internationally advanced instruments and has five specialized groups, offering nearly 500 test items, including blood and body fluid testing, cardiac/hepatic/renal function, coagulation and platelet function, thromboelastography, blood typing, bone marrow and semen analysis, flow cytometry, autoantibodies, allergens, trace elements, vitamins, therapeutic drug monitoring, infectious immunity, tumor markers, hormones, osteoporosis, immunoglobulins and complement, immunofixation protein electrophoresis, bacterial and fungal culture and identification, cervical exfoliative cytology testing, nucleic acid testing, pharmacogenomics, and other test items, comprehensively covering clinical diagnostic and treatment needs. As an important component of the Eighth Clinical Medical School of Peking University, the department balances teaching and research, undertakes teaching tasks for clinical medicine majors, and serves as an internship base for multiple universities. Since its establishment, the department has been awarded honors such as "Outstanding Clinical Department" and "Advanced Grassroots Party Branch" within the hospital for multiple consecutive years. It has always adhered to the philosophy of "patient-centered, quality-based" and follows the quality policy of "scientific, rigorous, accurate, and efficient," continuously providing high-quality laboratory services for clinical practice and patients.
