The Bone and Joint Center is a key discipline at Peking University International Hospital, led by Professor Liu Xiaoguang. The department maintains close collaborative relationships with several senior experts from Peking University Third Hospital and Peking University People's Hospital, jointly forming a strong expert team. It is a modern orthopedic center integrating medical care, teaching, scientific research, and rehabilitation. The Bone and Joint Center currently has subspecialties including spine surgery, joint surgery, minimally invasive joint surgery, and trauma orthopedics. The scope of diagnosis and treatment includes various types of spinal trauma and degenerative diseases, scoliosis and kyphotic deformities, etc.; various types of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteonecrosis of the femoral head, etc.; minimally invasive arthroscopic treatment for various sports injuries and joint diseases; various types of limb fractures, nonunion, and bone defects, etc. The Bone and Joint Center extensively performs various types of precision and minimally invasive orthopedic surgeries. With the existing medical equipment, the spine specialty group has carried out percutaneous endoscopic transforaminal discectomy and spinal canal decompression for lumbar disc herniation and spinal stenosis, robot-navigated percutaneous vertebroplasty for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, etc. Meanwhile, it has rich clinical experience in the treatment of thoracic spinal stenosis, severe kyphotic deformities, and severe lumbar spondylolisthesis. The joint specialty group utilizes 3D printing technology, combining modern digital medical technology with orthopedic characteristics, to carry out digital-assisted diagnosis and treatment techniques before, during, and after surgery. The minimally invasive joint surgery specialty group extensively performs arthroscopic minimally invasive treatment for various joint diseases throughout the body. The trauma specialty group has rich clinical experience in limb salvage surgery for complex limb fractures combined with vascular and nerve injuries, as well as in the application of various flaps for repairing exposed steel plates and bones after orthopedic surgery. The Bone and Joint Center also extensively carries out teaching and scientific research in orthopedic diseases, undertakes clinical teaching for undergraduate students at Peking University Health Science Center, undertakes multiple research projects, and has published numerous papers in renowned academic journals both domestically and internationally. Under the leadership of Professor Liu Xiaoguang, the Bone and Joint Center aims to lead the development of domestic and international orthopedic clinical practice and scientific research, and takes it as its mission to provide high-quality medical services for the general public.
