The Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery features precision, minimally invasive, and systematic surgical treatment as its professional characteristics, covering sub-specialty areas including hepatic surgery, biliary surgery, pancreatic surgery, portal hypertension surgery, and transplant surgery. Its technical expertise includes anatomical liver resection, surgical treatment of complex biliary tract tumors, minimally invasive surgical treatment of pancreatic malignant tumors, and orthotopic liver transplantation. The Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery is the core department of the Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Tumor Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) system at Peking University International Hospital. The discipline leader, Chief Physician Wu Tiantian, and Chief Consultant Expert, Chief Physician Zhang Keming, lead a team of young and middle-aged key experts to form an elite medical team in hepatobiliary surgery. Multiple physicians have successively studied or received training at renowned medical centers both domestically and internationally. The department routinely performs minimally invasive surgical treatment and robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery for benign and malignant diseases of the liver, biliary tract, pancreas, and spleen; anatomical segmental hepatectomy, radical resection of complex hilar cholangiocarcinoma, surgical conversion therapy for advanced hepatobiliary malignant tumors, and laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy are at a leading level domestically. In collaboration with multiple disciplines, a standardized diagnosis and treatment center for cholelithiasis has been established, accumulating rich clinical minimally invasive diagnostic and treatment experience in the full-process management of cholelithiasis and the diagnosis and treatment of critically ill patients with cholelithiasis complicated by biliary tract infections.
