Department Details
The Sleep Medicine Department is an emerging interdisciplinary platform that integrates clinical practice, scientific research, and education, operating independently. Relying on the expert team of the Peking University Sleep Research Center, it serves as a professional training base for sleep medicine talents in China.
The Sleep Medicine Department is planned and constructed entirely in accordance with international standards. It is equipped with a central control room, sleep disorder outpatient clinics, and 10 independent sleep monitoring and treatment rooms. Through high-magnification infrared cameras and a high-sensitivity two-way intercom system, real-time monitoring of 10 beds can be conducted. Synchronized display of patients' electrophysiological, video, and audio signals is possible. Each room is equipped with an LCD television and an independent bathroom, providing patients with a comfortable medical environment and ensuring the quality of sleep monitoring.
The Sleep Medicine Department has assembled an experienced medical, technical, and nursing team. It has achieved integration of outpatient and inpatient services. Diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders can be carried out in different settings, including at home, at the bedside, and in the sleep center. The center's scope of services covers more than 90 types of sleep disorders manifested as 'inability to fall asleep, inability to stay awake, and poor sleep quality.' It can diagnose, evaluate, and customize personalized treatment plans for sleep disorders such as snoring, sleep apnea, abnormal sleep behaviors, narcolepsy and hypersomnia, sleep-related movement disorders, insomnia, circadian rhythm-related sleep disorders, and sleep disorders in children and adolescents in accordance with international standards. It is one of China's first PCCM single-discipline training bases, and to date, it has trained more than 400 medical workers from across the country, many of whom have obtained international Registered Polysomnographic Technologist certification. This has improved the local level of diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders and standardized polysomnography monitoring techniques.
